Being Fat Ruins Your Self Esteem

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Say you have a job interview for a great job that you really want. You are pumped up and ready. The only problem is, you are terrified that your potential employer won’t like you and won’t hire you because you are fat.

This is a common theme for overweight people. Our self esteem is next to zero. We can be friendly, kind, intelligent, but if we weight too much, that’s enough to kill any self esteem we might otherwise have.

I found an ad online for a cool position I wanted. I emailed and the employer liked my personality. He called and an interview was scheduled for tomorrow. Problem is I CAN’T LOSE ANY WEIGHT BY TOMORROW!!! If it was like a week away, that would be better. I mean I could exercise hard and lose 2 or 3 pounds if I had a whole week.

But I can have the best personality in the world, I can be the smartest person in the world, but I just want to be thin and pretty. I don’t want to be fat! I am absolutely terrified that as soon as the employer sees me he will think, “Eww! I’m not hiring her! She’s too fat!”

Needless to say my self esteem now is at zero. If only I was thin, then I’d be so pumped up and ready to take on the world.

Unfortunately you can’t lose weight over night. It takes time to lose weight. And it can be a struggle to keep it off. To make matters worse I was doing well with my weight loss but I backslid. I had too many soda, too much delicious food, and some sweets. If only I hadn’t have backslid like I did, I’d probably be 10 pounds lighter.

I hate myself.

Now I am so motivated to lose weight. Whether I get this job or not, whether the employer doens’t like me cause I’m overweight or not, I am so motivated to lose weight. No more sweets and I’m gonna be exercising a full hour everyday. I will be dancing, doing jumping jacks, lifting weights, just getting real physical to burn, burn, burn those calories.

If you are overweight, once you lose that weight to become your ideal weight, your self esteem skyrockets.

I am so motivated. Just wish I was this motivated looooong ago.
